SPLATOON
Splat Dualies
+1.3 ink saver (sub), +1.3 quick super jump, +1.0 thermal ink, +0.9 ink saver (main), +0,6 quick respawn, +0.3 ink recovery up, +0.3 ink resistance up
i play splat dualies a lot! during Fresh Season, it was what i used 90.4% of all of my battles (according to Splatnet). i first started using splat dualies during the rock vs paper vs scissors splatfest (gg team rock,,,), but i always knew i would fall in love with it the moment i saw it on a weapons guide! interestingly, i thought i would be more of a dualie squeltcher main, but ended up married to my silly little splat dualies. theyre the first and only weapon i currently have a 5-star with!
Tri-Stringer
+1.6 ink saver (main), +1.0 tenancy, +1.0 thermal ink, +0.6 run speed up, +0.3 ink saver (sub), +0.3 swim speed up, +0.3 special power up, +0.3 quick respawn, +0.3 sub resistance up
ahhh, my second love, tri-stringer,,, i had always wanted to test it out, but i was wayyy too intimidated by it to even try at first! that is, until i SHREDDED through a salmon run wave with the tri-stringer during Chill Season and decided to give it a shot. while i DEFINITELY dont use it as much as splat dualies, i can absolutely take it into Anarchy (Open) comfortably!
Ballpoint Splatling
+1.0 quick super jump, +1.0 sub resistance up, +1.0 tenancy, +0.9 ink saver (sub), +0.6 ink saver (main), +0.6 run speed up, +0.3 swim speed up, +0.3 ink resistance up
wow, i REALLY didnt think i would ever use a splatling, but i had seen some people use ballpoint and wanted to try! its a,,, VERY complex weapon, with the range-changing charge being very tricky to get the hang of, but its really fun to hang back and splat people from the sidelines! i think that ink jet has a lot of sinergy with the main and sub weapons, mostly focusing on out-ranging and poking from afar. i legit dont remember when i started using it, but its been added to my trio of fav weapons!
mY dEAR inkfish, i have so many ways to prep you! well,,, not actually that manyBUT id like to think i know a thing or two! keep in mind ive only been playing since splatoon 3's release, meaning i only have about a year of experience as of writing this (9/7/2023)!
first things first, you gotta choose your weapon! of course, you dont have to stick to just one, but in my experience its benificial to find a main weapon you really like before branching out to others! that way, you got your reliable weapon-- the one that you go to after losing a bunch XP
and, in contrast to the first tip, i would suggest learning all different weapons!!! knowing the strengths and weaknesses of weapons is practically the only way to beat someone in combat, aside from generally outplaying them-- knowing how many more hits you can take before getting splatted could be the deciding factor of a dual! of course, im not saying to play every weapon (though if you want to, go for it!), but there are some weapons guides out there that can help you get started! personally, this ones my favorite (thanks chuggaaconroy ^_^) but if you can find one you like better, more power to ya! in the same vein, i think that just watching youtubers talk about competative play is a really good start in general!
third, id suggest getting your gear in order. of course, i cant give that much advice on this because its largely based on your personal play style and what weapon youre using, but there are some general things to note! 1, ability chunks can be easily grinded out in salmon run AND right before splatfests with your splatfest tee, and 2, at the end of the day your skill is going to outweigh what gear can do, so dont rely on it too heavily. gear abilities are simply a tool to push you in the right direction, and are not something you can rely on all the time to carry you (unfortunately :P)
and lastly, if all else fails, just,,,,jump into it! you might lose a shit ton of times, but eventually youre gonna learn. and really, playing the game is the only way to get good at it, no matter how much prep you do!
